About
Hysteria, by its very lack of specificity and measurably potent social impact, has piqued the interest and suggested itself as a worthy topic for investigation for numerous artists, writers, and performers for over four thousand years. From the Latin hystericus and the Greek hysterikos, both referring to the uterus, hysteria has not always been a condition that only affects females, but it has certainly most broadly been known as such. For the purposes of this exhibition, the focus is on the female condition and experience.
