The Glamorous Life is a solo exhibition of recent works by German Pitre, the 2019 Paul Robeson Galleries at Express Newark Artist in Residence.
The Artist in Residence is selected by a jury of art professionals. During their six-month tenure as Artist in Residence, a Newark artist works in a studio located in the former Hahne Department Store and participates in the dynamic cultural community of Express Newark.
Of his practice, Pitre states that his “intention is to overwhelm the viewer. Various layers of material and ideas form tension as an individual interacts with the work. The experience may make the person uneasy as they try to find the words to best express what that they’re feeling.”
